Seriously, it’s just as big a deal.
So a funny thing happened yesterday …
Regular readers will know that, like many children all over the northern hemisphere, my three are off school for the summer.
So far we’ve been swimming, stood outside Doctor Who’s tardis, taken the dog over the beach for ice-cream (we ate the ice-cream. The dog just watched!) and tried our hand (not very successfully I might add) at geocaching.
And it’s been lush!
But here’s the thing … when your children get to school age and you’re a mum who works from home, you kind of find yourself slipping into a daily routine that includes peace and quiet to get some work done.
When you’re invaded by wonderful, messy (noisy) children, it can take some adjusting to.
Plan A: Work when they go to bed.
Except, it’s the holidays and so we’re letting them stay up later and by the time they’re in bed, all I want is a glass of wine and a nice film on the telly.
So yesterday I tried Plan B: Work first thing in the morning before we get started with the day.
And you know what? It was fab! By noon I’d written and recorded this post and the podcast that accompanies it, emailed five people about The Itchy Soul and set up some posts on social media. Result!
And the secret to why plan B worked so well?
I am totally an early bird. You know those annoying people who wake up fresh and bouncy at something ridiculous like 7am? Yep, that’s me.
I’ve been harping on for ages about the importance of hanging out with God in a way that is true to the person he created you to be. I’d just never tried applying it to business but it turns out that he knew what he was doing in that department too. Who’d have known eh? 😉
And so if you’re struggling with how best to do stuff, whether that be relationship stuff (with God or with people) work stuff, children stuff or something else, I’d like to encourage you to dump the shoulds and today, think about what works best with what you know about the person you are.
Stop trying to fit someone else’s mould. You’re you and that’s just fab!
Speaking of you being fab … for the next month, I’m offering free 15 minute play sessions.
If you’re keen to find out if The Itchy Soul Faith & Business Playground could be a good investment for you and your business, I’d love to jump on the phone or Skype and riff with you on where you’re at, the problems you’re facing right now and how the playground can best support you.
Sound like fun? Yey! I thought so too.
Because of the aforementioned children issue, time is at a premium but I’ve set aside an hour every evening to chat with you. Monday to Thursday, at 4pm ET / 1pm PT / 3pm CT / 9pm UK time I’m yours for 15 minutes (and again at quarter past, half past and quarter to!) so email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) and tell me two or three days that work best for you.
I’ll send you a quick reply confirming date and time and bingo! (Please remember to tell me your Skype username or the best number to call you on.)
I can’t wait to chat with you. You’ll be amazed what we can shift in 15 minutes. It’s just magic!
Until tomorrow, remember, be you, because you’re just fab!
And keep smiling,
